VHT 550°F (288°C) Engine Enamels™ are available in a wide range of colours, including exact match factory colours. All colours have excellent durability and superior heat and chemical resistance. They are specially formulated to withstand corrosion, rust, salt spray, chemicals and additives of today's gasoline blends and degreasers. VHT 550°F (288°C) Engine Enamels™ are a unique blend of urethane and ceramic resins, which produce a tough and long-lasting finish for engines, engine accessories or wherever a tough, durable heat or chemical-resistant finish is needed.

Directions:

  1. PREP: Prepare surface by removing loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, etc. For best results use grease and wax remover to clean surface. This can be accomplished by sand blasting or sanding the surface with 320-grit sandpaper or equivalent. Wipe surface down again with grease and wax remover. Mask-off surrounding areas to protect from overspray. Use at temperatures between 60°F (15°C) to 95°F (35°C) and when humidity is less than 60%. Do not apply paint in direct sunlight.
  2. SHAKE: Shake can vigorously for one full minute after mixing ball moves freely. Shake can for 10 seconds after each minute of use. For maximum adhesion and colour consistency, we recommend applying VHT Engine Enamel Primer #SP48.
  3. APPLY: To spray, hold can parallel at 8-10 inches from surface to be painted and use in an even, sweeping motion. To avoid runs and sags, apply in 2 light coats, followed by one medium wet coat. Apply all coats within 1 hour, allowing 10 minutes between each coat. For additional coats after 1 hour, wait 7 days for paint to cure. Dries to the touch in 1 hour. Can be handled in 3 hours. Dries to the touch in 1 hour. Can be handled in 3 hours. For added protection, apply VHT Gloss Clear Coat Enamel #SP145. Extremely Important: After part is completely dry, it must be cured to substantially increase the durability of the finish and enhance chemical resistance. Bake at 200°F (93°C) for 1 hour. Do not exceed the heat tolerance of the least heat tolerant part. The inherent heat of engine operation will also accomplish curing. Finish is not chemical resistant until cured.
