A battery isolator is an electrical device that divides direct current (DC) into multiple branches and only allows current in one direction in each branch.
The primary benefit of such an arrangement is the ability to simultaneously charge more than one battery from a single power source (e.g., an alternator) without connecting the battery terminals together in parallel.
This is beneficial because a weak or dead battery will drain the charge from a strong battery if both are connected directly together.
Most likely, yes! This kit has been designed to universally fit most types of battery isolators, be sure to check your exact requirements of wire and fuse ratings before purchasing. This kit will be particularly suitable for Projecta DBC100, DBC150 and VSR100.
We have included the Projecta recommended 150AMP ANS fuse to use with the wiring kit. BE CAUTIOUS of other sellers that supply cheaper and incorrect fuse types, this will potentially cause damage to the DCDC charger and batteries.
In this kit there will be 10M of RED 4B&S (6AWG) and 1M of 6B&S Black (6AWG). This wire gauge should be perfect for boot/tub/trailer mounting of the battery. If you wish to mount your second battery in the engine, you would not require the wire to be as thick to accommodate for the length. We also have a kit designed for engine mounting: AMS40054
Many other wiring kits do not include corrugated split sleeve tubing for your wires. Professionals will always protect wires with corrugated split sleeve tubing to prevent damage from impact and heat.
We stock a range of 12V wiring tools for the job. We did not want to add these to our kits because we know many of you may already own them. However, we also recommend that you have the following tools for the job ahead:
Also below will be the part numbers if you wish to order any extra split sleeve tubing, lugs and wire.
